VIALL
REV. FATHER JOHN L. VIALL, age 81. Pastor emeritus of St. Albert the Great Church (North Royalton). Father Viall graduated from Akron-St. Vincent High School in 1950. He attended St. Gregory Seminary in Cincinnati, Borromeo Seminary and St. Mary Seminary. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 23, 1959. His first assignment was to St. Augustine Church in Barberton, Ohio. After 5 years Fr. Viall was transferred to Sts. Philip & James Church on Cleveland's Westside then in 1972 he was assigned to St. William's Church in Euclid, Ohio. Four years later on June 24, 1976 he was appointed to St. Albert the Great Parish in North Royalton, Ohio to serve diligently in the growth of a parish that went from 1100 families to 5,000 families and a school that grew to over 800 children. He retired after 33 years at St. Albert the Great Parish on June 15, 2009 and 50 years as a priest. Loving son of the late Arthur and Agnes (nee Dittler). Devoted brother of Rev. Fr. James A Viall. Dear cousin of Jane and Bruce Meadows. Also survived by many friends who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers the family requests all donations to the St. Albert the Great Fr. John L. Viall Tuition Assistance Fund. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday November 21, 2013 St. Albert the Great Church, 6667 Wallings Rd, North Royalton, Ohio at 11:00AM. The main celebrant will be Archbishop Timothy Broglio JCD. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Vespers will be held Wednesday November 20, 2013 at 3:00 PM with visitation to follow until 8 PM at St. Albert the Great Church. Arrangements entrusted to the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, (West of I-71), 440-260-8800.
